Livin' luxe on a budget

Shopko: New Brands, New Look

September 19, 2017

Hi, loves!  Let’s talk Shopko stores and why not?   Shopko is a store that likes to provide quality name brand items at affordable pricing.  This is a store that fits in with our saying- living luxe on a budget.   Shopko has recently undergone a big change.  They’ve introduced new brands into their stores and have provided a new look to already established brands.

In With The New

Shopko has introduced some great in-store exclusive like A&I.  A&I ranges in everything from clothing, accessories, bedding, luggage, and furniture.  They have also introduced like well-known brands like Nugg Beauty, It’s a 10, and P.S. by Aeropostale.  Also, tons of great established brands like Keurig, American Home by Yankee Candle, and Jessica Simpson.

My Picks

A&I Women’s Long Sleeve Lace Up Cuff

On trend, affordable, and available in standard sizing and plus.

PS from Aeropostale Girls Crinkle Gauze shirt

I am a mother of two who love all things fashion.  So trendy and affordable are a must.  At $14.99, this top is the perfect addition to your little fall wardrobe, but also works as a transition piece for all seasons.

Nugg Deep Hydration Lip Mask

Nugg is known for their face masks, but they also have some lip masks.  The hydrating lip mask is perfect for fall/winter.

Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Filter

I own a Keurig, but find that buying k-cups can be a bit expensive.  My fiance and I decided to give this reusable filter.  The price for the filter is definitely worth all the savings in the end.

Parsons Eco Leather Chair

Want to redecorate but don’t have a lot of money.  Shopko!  With so many furniture brand options, you can’t go wrong.  I picked this chair up as the new addition to my beauty room.  Isn’t it a beauty?

If I haven’t sold you yet, then sign up for their newsletters.  Just for signing up you will get $10 off $30.

Shopping Spree Contest

Shopko is running a shopping spree contest for an opportunity to win a $500.

#Onebrandmotd- ColourPop

September 6, 2017

Hi, loves!

We are back with another #Onebrandmotd. If you’ve been following for awhile, you know what this is all about. If not, I am talking about a beauty challenge that Gaby, from Beauty by Gaby, and myself came up with called #Onebrandmotd.   This past week one brand motd was Colour pop.

Brand Challenge

For those that do not know what the brand challenge is, let me explain!   Each week Gaby and I will be doing a full face using one makeup brand. We try and cover our faces with as much of the branded makeup as we can.  This calls for creativity when creating the looks.  We have also decided to alternate between high end and drugstore to provide some more affordable options.  I am happy to announce that we have some new collab additions.  We have added two lovely ladies to the group.  You will now be able to see four different one brand looks, so be sure to check out hashtag #onebrandmotd to see the final looks on social media.

Colour Pop

Colour Pop is big in the makeup industry.  Known for the amazing quality and affordability and they also have the same manufacturer as Kylie Cosmetics- Dupes!  When ColourPop first came out, I went on a binge and purchased a ton of their products.  Since purchasing the items, I have maybe only used them a handful of times, so I am glad I was able to utilize them for this challenge.

Pictured above, I have the super shock shadows, blush, highlight, lippie stick, and eyeliner.  I found the shadows really hard to work with if using a brush.  I had to use my fingers to finish applying my look because I could not get them to apply the way I wanted.  The highlight was pretty easy to blend with a brush, but it was a whole other story for the blush.  I found it applied best with a stippling brush.  No issues with the lippie stick or liner.  Pretty basic.

Anndd..here is the completed look!  Overall, happy with it, but was not happy with how long it took to create the look.  I am going to give their pressed eyeshadows a shot and see if they apply better.  I hope you enjoyed this #Onebrandmotd.  Keep an eye out for our Urban Decay  #onebrandmotd post.

Canvas Factory Review & Giveaway

September 1, 2017

Hi, loves!  We have partnered with Canvas Factory to bring you affordable home decor- wall art to be exact.

I have always wanted to purchase canvas art, but I could never find quality at an affordable price.  We are budgetnistas after all.  Last Christmas, I came across canvas factory and received my first canvas wall art.  I picked out a 16×20 canvas picture to start my gallery wall project.  The quality of the canvas was amazing and I received it within a week.  Take into account that this was during the holidays.  Obviously, since the product is amazing, I  jumped at the chance to work with Canvas factory and give you the opportunity to win one of their amazing canvas prints.

 Canvas Factory:

Canvas Factory offers different types of customizable wall art that are affordable.  They offer fast service within 5-10 business days. They use high-quality materials, but also back their products with a 100% satisfaction guaranteed- this is something you usually do not get with customizable items.  The reason they are able to offer these products at an affordable price is that you are buying direct, leaving out the middle man.  You also get a flat rate shipping cost of $9.95 or free if you spend over $100.  There are so many great positives to this brand. I really enjoy creating my gallery

I really enjoy creating my gallery.  My newest piece is a picture of both my daughters.  I definitely wanted a canvas size of this picture because of the obvious, my daughters, but also because they were taken by my best friend Yanna of Sweet & Simple Life Photography.  She is one of the people who know me best and has watched my kids grow through the years.  If you are in the Portland area, check her out!  Her prices are affordable and her work is amazing!

Pictured above is the original photo.

Now onto the good stuff!  Follow the rules in the widget below to be entered into the giveaway for a free canvas picture!

Last Minute Back To School Savings With Groupon Coupons

August 31, 2017

Summer is almost at an end and the school year has either started or is about to start for your kiddo(s).  My daughters actually start school the day after Labor Day.  This means I have a little bit more time to do some shopping and last minute back to school savings with Groupon Coupons!  Let’s talk about JCPenney’s.  I love hitting up the clearance section because I can always find really great items at an affordable price.  This is without coupons, so imagine the deals after using Groupon Coupons.

Let’s Talk Savings

Groupon Coupons currently has 48 coupons available for JCPenney.  The coupons do include in-store and online promotions.  Which I absolutely appreciate, because I am more of an instant gratification kind of a person.  However, I recently discovered you can ship to the store for free with purchases over $25.  So this is what you do:

So this is what you do:

1. Sign up for JCPenney rewards.  This gets you 10% back for every 100 you spend

2.  Download the APP and add a payment (You do not need to buy anything), you will get $10 in rewards instantly.

3. Use Groupon Coupons to locate the most current promotions.  I usually try 2-3 promotions to see which one will give me the better deal.

4. Maximize savings by stacking coupons.  For example, JCP currently has a coupon for 65% off 100, JCP rewards (like that $10 you received for downloading the app), and then a free shipping, if needed.

Then, repeat in-store, lol.  Another thing to take into account is this weekend is Labor Day!  Those words scream sales!!  So don’t forget to take full advantage of the sales and coupons when finishing your last minute back to school shopping.  What are your favorite stores to shop at?

We are back with another #Onebrandmotd. If you’ve been following for awhile, you know what this is all about. If not, I am talking about a beauty challenge that Gaby, from Beauty by Gaby, and myself came up with called #Onebrandmotd. I am a bit late with getting the deets up from last weeks #onebrandmotd, I figured it was better late than never.  My kids have returned home from being gone for a few weeks.  Now that the anxiety is gone from, we are getting back to routine.  Last week’s makeup of the week was Tarte Cosmetics.

Brand Challenge

For those that do not know what the brand challenge is, let me explain!   Each week Gaby and I will be doing a full face using one makeup brand. Multi-Beauty Aide

August 17, 2017

If you are into all natural, affordable, multi-use products then  Radha Beauty 100% pure fractionated Coconut Oil is a must have for you! The Radha Beauty coconut oil is odorless, colorless, non-greasy, and stainless. Their coconut oil is a cruelty-free product, with a variety of uses, but is meant explicitly for external use. Coconut oil generally comes in a solid state and melts into a liquid when exposed to any heat such as your own body temperature.

Fractioned Coconut Oil

I tried this product in a few different ways. First, I used it to shave with in the shower which worked extremely well and left my skin feeling moisturized. I also tried it as a lotion which left my skin feeling amazing. As a makeup remover, it worked pretty well but it took a little extra effort to remove my mascara.

It works amazingly as a massage oil, my boyfriend has sciatic nerve pain and I massage him daily to help reduce the pain. It works well as a tanning oil, I particularly like it to tan, because it’s more of a dry oil and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy and oiled up. I know many people use it as a facial moisturizer, but I wouldn’t recommend it for people with oily skin like me as it may add to the oil issue and break you out as it did with me after a few days of use. One of my favorite ways to use coconut oil is to create body scrubs with it, these are great for exfoliating the skin (I’ll be posting my personal recipe for yall soon!)

I also used it as a hair mask, I have very long hair and I’m always looking for ways to keep it moisturized. One helpful tip I do have for anyone who uses it this way is to make sure you distribute it evenly throughout your hair and to rinse it well afterward or your hair can seem oily after. It also works as a hair oil after you shower.  I would suggest doing this while your hair is still wet. Putting it in a spray bottle may be helpful for this to help even distribution. It leaves your hair so silky and shiny.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has so many uses it would be hard to make an argument against buying it. It can replace many items in your beauty stash and many others around the house as well. This makes it extremely cost-effective. You can even use it on your pet to give them a silky shiny coat. Coconut oils are used for everything from cooking to oil pulling.  There are some uses I have yet to try like aromatherapy, making soaps, lotions, ointments, and as an antiseptic/disinfectant. There are literally over a hundred uses for coconut oil, whats your favorite?
