Fall Fun- Fall Tag!

October 16, 2018

Hello friends!  Long time no chat- what can I say?  Life continues to throw me for a loop, but we are back today to participate in a fall tag.  And why not?  It’s one of everyone’s favorite seasons.  I was tagged by Dalba of Ideas by Dalba to participate in the Fall Fun-Fall Tag!  You can check out her post here.

1. What is one candle you MUST light every fall? For the past couple of year’s, it’s been BBW (Bath & Bodyworks) Black cherry merlot candle, but who am I kidding- I have this scent in everything!

2. When you think of fall, what does it remind you of?  I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Guam and although we do not have actual seasons there, I always think of Halloween on the islands.  Streets are filled with kids trick or treating and families partying.  I live in Oregon and we are lucky to get maybe 10 trick or treaters.  It might be dependent on the neighborhood, but it’s still not the same.

3. What is your all-time favorite fall/Halloween movie? There are so many Halloween movies out there, but I would need to say Twitches!  You know’ twin witches=twitches!

4. What Halloween costume do you have in mind?  I’ve never been one for dressing up, but I do plan on creating a mermaid look with all drugstore makeup, so keep an eye out!

5. What is your favorite fall trend?  I think it depends on what the current trend is!  Right now, I am loving animal print to add a little something to wardrobes.  Everyone is purchasing leopard print booties, usually a little more expensive.  Well, I found a great pair at Walmart for $19.99.  Check them out here.

6. When you think of fall, what drink comes to mind? Not a fall drink, but Eggnog!

7. What is your go-to fall beauty product? A must-have staple!  SPF!  You wouldn’t think it’s needed, but it really is.  My favorite one Derma e’s Natural Mineral Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Oil-Free Face.

8. Do you prefer apple pie or pumpkin pie? I am more of an apple pie girl.

9. Do you have any fall traditions? Yes, we take pictures at the pumpkin patch and obviously pumpkin carving.  I save money by purchasing our pumpkins from a local nursery.  They sell any size pumpkin for a $1.99.

10. The moment of truth, is fall your favorite season?  Definitely one of my favorite seasons!  I love watching the leaves change and the holiday feels it starts to bring.

Generation Beauty LA 2018 Add-On Experience

April 2, 2018

Hi, beauties!  We are back again with another Generation Beauty experience post, but this time we are talking about my event experience.  I’ve done posts like this before, but for the most part, my experience has always been pretty positive.  If you read my previous post about early registration, you know that I touched a bit on some of the changes that happened this year.  If not, you can check out that post here. Read on to see Generation Beauty LA 2018 Add-On Experience.

Past Experience

The first year I attended Gen beauty, I will say it was a bit unorganized.  I say this because the lines at the booths went whichever way possible and ran out of free samples.  Through the years, the lines became more controlled and brands planned for the event better.

ADD-ONS

Early Admission

Let’s talk admission- Ipsy started doing add-ons for early admission and one called lightening pass (we will touch on this later). What is the early admission you ask?  Well, it’s where you gain an extra event hour on both Saturday and Sunday.  This means the event starts at 10 AM instead of 11 AM.  The additional cost for the early entry is $39.95-  early admission is well worth price because this is when I had the opportunity to hit a majority of the booths.

My advice is to hit the bigger brands during this time period because these are the booths that will have extremely long waits when general admission gets let in.  I would also suggest that if you see any empty booths, get them during this time as well, just so you can knock them off your list.

Lightning Pass

Alright, lightning pass, this add-on is kind of like the fast-pass at Disneyland.  For another additional cost, you could pay for the lightning pass on its own or bundle it with the early admission.  I, personally, did not purchase the lightning pass, so this opinion is coming from the other end of the spectrum.

How Lightning Pass Works- My perspective…

The lightning pass is a separate line that allows you to move up faster within the line.  From my observation, they would let a certain amount of lightning pass holders go through- the average amount was 5 lightning pass holders to every one general admission holder unless you were in a group.  As you can imagine, this caused the general admission lines to become extremely long.  Shoot, there were even times when the lightning pass lines were longer than the GA lines. I heard numerous complaints from lightning pass holders, but this was due to the lack of organization that some booths had or the activities at the booths itself.

Final Thoughts…

I felt the lightning pass was a horrible idea because it provided a negative experience for so many.  Ipsy makes most of their money from makeup lovers who are on a budget and can’t really afford to go and splurge on numerous makeup items and brands.  C’mon, their makeup subscription is only $10 a month.  I say this because many go for the general admission ticket because that is what they can afford.  We all paid for the same experience, but just because most couldn’t splurge on the add-ons doesn’t mean they should not get what they paid for.  In previous years attendance, I have been able to make it to all the booths- this includes waiting through the long lines and doing all the activities.

I will say that they have managed to keep the ticket pricing the same throughout the five years that I have attended- good job!  So in all, I still had a good time and met some amazing people.  Afterall that is what this experience is all about- networking!

New Year, New Logo!

January 24, 2018

Happy hump day!  I know, it’s been awhile, but we are back and ready to rock the new year.  Tia and I took a small break to get ourselves ready for the new year.  The break gave us an opportunity to figure out what we wanted out of our blog this year and the goals we wanted to set.  We have a lot of great ideas and changes coming up this year.  One is the reveal of our new logo!  That’s right, new year, new logo!

Logo

Our original logo was something I designed and was meant to be temporary until we could get something professional done.  I had the opportunity to work with lifestyle blogger and digital designer, Nitushmita Barman.  All products by Nitushmita, @Kiyashmi via Instagram or through her blog here.

She asked what we wanted our logo to look like, we also provided our niche(s), and our current logo.  She was able to create a new elegant looking logo that was also very streamlined and fit our look.

We absolutely love the outcome and hope you do too!  We will also be incorporating a new theme, about me section, and of course, lots of new content.  Don’t forget to check out Nitushmita’s IG page for digital printable items.

Well, I am originally from Guam, USA, but currently living in Portland, Oregon.  I know, huge transition!  Living in Oregon has really weakened me when it comes to heat, lol.  I am also a mother of two beautiful girls.  They are 10 and 15.   I hate they are growing so fast, but I am doing what I need to do to cherish our time spent together.  Beauty is a huge love and addiction of mine.  I am trying to be better about purchasing items I don’t need, but it’s all so pretty!
